This post will be regarding a list of the 50 Most Iconic Brand Logos, the link will be down below because if you don't look through it you might be a bit confused. There were definitely a few brands in the list that I forgot existed, for example number 50 Goodyear, but I recognized it immediately. I was surprised to see the MasterCard on there, I never really thought about it being a brand, but it certainly has a recognizable logo. There are some obvious logos on there, such as Coca-Cola and McDonald's. It's very evident that this list is American, especially with the addition of the American Airline logo. Those logos I didn't recognize, but a lot of them I did. I agree with this list to a certain extent. With logos such as McDonald's, that's very obvious. I also don't like how Nike is number one. For a while I had no idea they existed, and I would've put McDonald's first. I also didn't know the Rolex logo, and I feel like most people wouldn't either unless they were rich and seen them often.
All of these brands have simple and memorable logos, most of the higher up ones have iconic sayings or themes. They all have probably spent millions of dollars on marketing to have their logos become more memorable and make people want to spend money on their products. This list is evidently more geared towards America. I would've added Tim Horton’s for sure because it’s so iconic that people usually associate it with the Canadian stereotype. I consider Minute Maid to be pretty iconic as well. It reminds me of the juice boxes with the animals made out of fruit, so I would have added it as well. Many of the brands on there are also now irrelevant but their logos still remain iconic. Here’s the link to the list: https://www.complex.com/life/2013/03/the-50-most-iconic-brand-logos-of-all-time/

The first thing that I think when I read that question is, of course media influences our opinions. It also seems like a common sense question, especially since how we've grown so dependent on technologies, such as phones, and the easy access to media that we now have. Now you can see advertising everywhere, which can mess with our image of stereotypes and of ourselves. Depending on where you get your news, it can be extremely bias and therefore influence your political views. Now we can learn about major events that happen around the world and as a result our world has become a little more homogenized. Our cultures and interest have blended, so why not our opinions and perspectives as well?
This semester has been very eventful. I technically achieved my goals, I mean I learned three songs. They just weren’t the same ones I had mentioned before. I can now play Dance Dance, Northern Downpour, and Ready to go on guitar. It wasn’t exactly what I had specified, but I got it down and I’m counting it. The writing goal on the other hand was completed way before the deadline. As a matter of fact, instead of completing 5 chapters, I finished the entire book and started writing a new one. Now I’m trying to write everyday, which so far is going well. I have made a few songs using loops, and I learned that it’s way easier that way. I tried to mess around on the guitar to figure something out for a song, but I learned that I work better when I have something to go off of. It’s fine though, I don’t have to worry about song writing until later. Besides we're going to be learning a few things about song writing, so I should be fine. I also learned that I have to be louder when singing. During our performance at the celebration of learning, we got some feedback about volume. Our second song, Dance Dance, could’ve also used a little bit more work. Learning new songs in a short period of time was kind of difficult. I had to constantly switch between fingerings and it got kind of repetitive and annoying. Although, I stuck with it and learned the song in time, but it could’ve been more polished. Now, learning songs, I just don’t have the focus and determination to constantly switch fingerings. I kind of gave up, but I recently learned some songs and I'm trying to improve my playing by practicing switching fingerings faster. I've also taken a few steps to put myself out there more, like joining Leadership. It's been fun so far, and I'm hoping it'll help me become more comfortable speaking or performing in front of large crowds. I think I'm most fearful during the build up and of course when I'm first on stage. Then I get really focused and almost forget people are even there. That also could've been because of our first performance and the fact that I paid more attention to the music than the audience. It's fine, I'm working on it. I mean, I do have a presentation coming up soon, so we'll see how that goes. For this semester, I hope to start making music with my band, Roaming the Cosmos. Maybe by then we'll finally have our logo made so that we can put it on stuff. I'm very excited to see what kind of music we'll produce. We were also hoping to have time to make a music video or two, and I think it'll be a lot of fun.
In my last blog post I talked about Smart goals, this post will be all about my current progress on those goals. To be honest I kind of forgot about them, but somehow I still managed to get some things done. My last post was done on time and the reason why was because I was dedicated to it. Honestly over the years I just built up good habits with getting things done. I don't like having unfinished assignments hanging over me, and so usually when something is assigned to me I get it done that night, because I have nothing else to do. During school, I like to go over and remember everything I did that day, and I make a mental list of everything that needs to be done, I then stay in my room and work until everything on my list is completed. Goals are important for keeping you on track. Here are two smart goals that I came up with, one for Music Academy and the other personal, and if you don't know what a smart goal is, it's an acronym for Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Timely, it helps plan the goals you want to achieve and how to go about doing it.
